Africa Mia close to Liberia Airport
Fifteen minutes outside of Liberia airport (only an hour from Punta Playa Vistas) is Africa Mía, Costa Rica’s most unique tourist attraction, which offers a remarkable experience known as a “zoo safari.” The open range the giraffes, zebras and other animals roam strongly resembles the plains of the African bush and Masaii Mara and Serengeti, where Christian and I honeymooned in East Africa.
With its zoo safaris, Africa Mía has become a great tourist attraction, boasting over 150 animals, including, in addition to giraffes, bongos, zebras, and ostriches, the incredible giant eland (the world’s largest antelope, growing to 900 kg. and found in Central and Western Africa), oryx, warthogs, wildebeest, and camels. Others include nilgai antelope from Asia and white-tailed deer and peccaries from Costa Rica.
Entry to the park is $15 per person. For $65, Africa Mía also offers an upscale zoo safari. Upon arrival, guests are transferred to a Land Rover to ride through the park to the scenic waterfall on the grounds. The grand finale is another transfer into the specialized Humvee zoo safari vehicle inside the perimeter for a really up-close look at the animals. This is an amazing experience conducted in the most incredible comfort and safety. Eden was awe struck when the giraffe took the carrot out of her mouth with its purple tongue.
Africa Mia is a great place to venture to if you have errands to run in Liberia or are picking up friends at <Liberia airport in costa rica >the afternoon, or if you want a change from beach activities. Bring extra carrots, because all the animals love them and will love you too if you feed them. Make sure to bring sun screen, water and wear comfortable shoes if you decide to do the walking tour. Africa Mia can be enjoyed by animal lovers of all ages. <Liberia airport in Costa Rica> recently added a new terminal and increase daily direct flights to make getting to the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica much easier.
